Saturday racing in Brisbane this afternoon takes place at Eagle Farm where the track is rated a Good (4). The radar early this morning suggests rain is on the way with the Bureau predicting somewhere between 5 to 15mm.
The action kicks off at 11.28 with a couple of short priced favourites in the first two races, both too short for my liking!

Race 4 # 1 SOUTHERN STOCK
Chris Munce trained stayer who looks well placed second up from a break tomorrow. Resuming at Eagle Farm two weeks ago he gave away a big start before weaving his way home nicely albeit without threat winding up 1.8L from the winner over 1600m.
Keep in mind two starts back he was less than 2L from Pinarello in the Queensland Derby.
Stepping up 225 metres this looks his race however tactics will be interesting; he maps to get back however in the past Larry Cassidy has been quite happy to make a midrace move & either take over or sit outside the lead. Will that be the case once again?

Race 3 # 7 TOP ORDER
On the 7 day back up having gone around at Doomben last Saturday when clocking in 3rd. He didn’t have the best of luck there going for a run nearer the inside in the straight where a gap & his winning chances both closed at the same time.
He’s up in grade today however gets in with no weight, we just need some tempo in the race to give him a chance as he’ll be settling in a backmarking position. He’s a wind-up type who needs to build speed & from a wide draw tomorrow with an unimpeded run look out.
Race 8 # 8 EASIFAR
Clocked in second behind Puntura at Doomben 3 weeks ago closing nicely late. They meet again today & there’s a weight turnaround of 2kg in Easifar’s favour which coupled with the drier ground is going to definitely aid the Chris Waller trained mare.
She seems well weighted overall & with a touch of luck from an awkward alley early on should prove tough to beat.
