Anamoe has won the first Group 1 of the 2022/2023 racing season.
Sent out the dominant $2.50 favourite in the Winx Stakes over 1400m at Randwick, the star colt didn’t let the punters down, running clear of his rivals by two lengths.
Ridden by star hoop James McDonald from barrier one, Anamoe enjoyed an economical run in transit, bursting up the largely unused inside to see off Fangirl for second, Profondo for third and Hilal for fourth.
The four-year-old is being targeted towards a tilt at the Cox Plate in October, the same race he ran a gallant second in last year.
Saturday’s win is Anamoe’s fourth Group 1 major.
