2022-08-23T10:36+10:00

UPDATE

Gold Coast has confirmed Izak Rankine has requested a trade to South Australia.

Following reports earlier on Tuesday, the Suns stated they were disappointed Rankine had expressed a desire to leave.

GM of player talent and strategy Craig Cameron said: “We have created a football club where our players and staff are committed to success, so we’re disappointed with his decision.

“We’ve provided an environment and support network around Izak since he was drafted to help him play his best football and it’s disappointing that journey won’t continue.”

The Suns added they would work to secure the “best possible deal” for the club from Rankine’s exit.

Gold Coast Suns talent Izak Rankine wishes to be traded to Adelaide, reports the Gold Coast Bulletin.

The 22-year-old forward has informed Suns officials of his desire to join the Crows.

Rankine has been linked with a move back to his home state of South Australia for some time and it now appears as though he will get his wish.

The Crows have reportedly offered him a five-year deal at $800,000 a year.

Rankine was taken by the Suns with pick 3 in the 2018 draft and has spent four years with the club.

He has played 48 games and kicked 57 goals in Suns colours, including 29 majors in 18 games in 2022 which has been his most fruitful season in the AFL.
