“Key signing” Mulitalo to ink contract extension with Cronulla

2022-08-26T08:50+10:00

Cronulla have moved to extend Ronaldo Mulitalo’s stay at the club with the star winger set to ink a contract extension.

Mulitalo, 22, has scored 13 tries from 20 games this season, quickly developing into one of the competition’s best flyers.

According to The Daily Telegraph’s David Riccio, the Kiwi international’s new deal at Shark Park will be a two-year extension that locks him in until the end of the 2025 season.

“Then down at Cronulla guys, we know they’ve got this situation where their entire back five are off-contract (from the end of next season),” Riccio said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.

“Well, they’ve already moved on one of them and it’s Ronaldo Mulitalo.

“He’s a key signing for the Sharks and he’s pushed his future out for another two years at the Sharks until the end of 2025.

“So, that’s an important signing and starts that process of the Sharks trying to retain all of those back five players.”

With Will Kennedy, Sione Katoa, Jesse Ramien and Siosifa Talakai all also off-contract, rugby league great Greg Alexander believes it’ll be hard to keep them all at the club given their improving market value.

“That won’t be easy,” Alexander said.

“It’s not easy when they’re all playing so well.”

The Sharks will hope to secure their top-four spot with wins against the Bulldogs and Knights in the season’s final two weeks.
