Carlton announces trio of delistings

2022-08-26T15:05+10:00

Carlton has announced a trio of delistings, with Jack Newnes, Oscar McDonald and Luke Parks cut from the club.

Newnes played 52 games for the club, including 16 in 2022, most across the wing and half back.

McDonald was picked up as a delisted free agent in 2021 and impressed in patches, but missed large chunks of both seasons with back injuries.

Parks was a rookie selection in 2021, playing eight games for the club across two seasons.

Carlton Head of List Management Nick Austin thanked the trio for their time at the Blues.

“Jack (Newnes) is a testament to what hard work can earn you in AFL football: to play 200 games to this point at the highest level is a terrific achievement that Jack and his family should be incredibly proud of," Austin said.

“Oscar (McDonald) is also a terrific character who brought a lot to our group. While he was unlucky with his injuries, the resilience he showed to continue to persevere and maintain a positive presence around the Club was impressive.

“Luke (Parks) had his share of bad luck through injury this year, however his perseverance to come through state level to earn two years in the AFL system proves his strong work ethic.

“We thank Jack, Oscar and Luke for their service to the Carlton Football Club and wish them all the best moving forward.”

Carlton still has a number of players out of contract including Caleb Marchbank, Josh Honey, David Cuningham and Will Setterfield.
