Lloyd’s top 7 players he’d want playing for him in finals

2022-08-30T07:31+10:00

Matthew Lloyd has selected the top 7 players he would want playing for him in finals.

Lloyd has only picked from the eight finals teams in 2022 and has based his selections on current form.

This is the group the former Essendon star believes will have a huge impact in September.

See Lloyd’s list below:

7. Shai Bolton (Richmond)

“He’s probably different to the rest of the players who are more the bigger, stronger, powerful players.

“Can’t wait to see what he does in the finals.”

6. Lachie Neale (Brisbane)

“I think Neale is instrumental to Brisbane winning a final.

“Stop Neale, I think you’re halfway home.

“It will be interesting to see if Richmond have a tagged to go with him.”

5. Tom Lynch (Richmond)

“A number of years ago I thought to myself, ‘This guy is not moving too well’.

“But he’s had his first big pre-season (in some years) and his last month he has been unstoppable.”

4. Christian Petracca (Melbourne)

“Just for what he can do from centre bounce, in the midfield and playing forward for the side at the moment.”

3. Clayton Oliver (Melbourne)

“I think he may well win the Brownlow this year.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if he wins the Norm Smith as well.”

2. Jeremy Cameron (Geelong)

“Normally this is reserved for midfielders.

“I just don’t see a good match for him. Do you play a tall on him? Do you play a small on him?

“He’s a very hard player to stop.”

1. Max Gawn (Melbourne)

“The player I’d want to take into the finals series with me is Max Gawn.

“I think he is different. He is better than any other ruckman in the comp by a long way.

“I like Geelong as my favourite going into finals, but the Gawn/Luke Jackson combination is a massive advantage for the Demons.”
