Eagles prepared to trade Rioli elsewhere if Power deal isn't sufficient

West Coast is prepared to trade Junior Rioli elsewhere if Port Adelaide doesn’t satisfy them with their offer.

Rioli this week requested a trade to the Power, with the South Australian side reportedly offering him a longer term contract on more money.

However, Eagles list manager Rohan O’Brien says the club is comfortable trading Rioli to other interested parties if they don’t like Port Adelaide’s offers.

“In our eyes (his value) is pretty significant given the type of player he is and the age that he is and we think he’s approaching his best footy,” O’Brien told SEN WA Breakfast.

“We haven’t sat down as a group to work out what that looks like at the moment.

“In our eyes it’s really up to Port now to come up with a satisfactory deal that will allow us to agree to the trade.

“If they can’t do that, then there’s potentially other avenues. In preliminary discussions there was other clubs interested in Junior.

“Whilst we’ll try and deal with Port and if it’s something we’re happy with we’ll do that trade, if not we’ll potentially look at other avenues.”

The 27-year-old has played 51 career games for the Eagles, including 13 in 2022.

He was suspended for two seasons after an ASADA ban for tampering with a urine test.
