First-round Magpie “wants to get to Geelong” in trade

2022-09-14T11:14+10:00

Collingwood youngster Ollie Henry is expected to request a trade to Geelong according to SEN’s Sam Edmund.

Henry, 20, is out of contract and is reportedly unsure where his future lies at Collingwood given that Dan McStay and Bobby Hill are set to arrive at the AIA Centre this off-season.

Pick No.17 from the 2020 National Draft, Henry is a Geelong native and reportedly wants to play with older brother Jack who has played 105 games in the hoops.

“Ollie Henry is the other one, he wants to get to Geelong now,” Edmund said on SEN’s Whateley.

“The Henry camp is worried about Dan McStay and (Bobby) Hill coming into that forward line.

“The contract offer from Collingwood didn’t wow them anyway, so all signs now point to the Cats where brother Jack is in his ear of course to get him down there.”

Edmund says Geelong’s interest in Henry is a “pivot” from their original plans which saw them targeting experienced duo Brodie Grundy and Jacob Hopper.

“For the Cats, it’s a pivot of sorts, given they were into Grundy and Hopper as we know,” Edmund said.

“But, Tanner Bruhn nominated them and I expect Ollie Henry to do the same.”

Henry has played 15 games for Collingwood in 2022 where he kicked 21 goals.
