Ex-Freo star gives verdict on what wantaway Dockers are worth at trade table

2022-09-16T20:30+10:00

Former Fremantle star Paul Hasleby has given his verdict on how much five wantaway Dockers are worth at the trade table.

Fremantle quintet Rory Lobb, Griffin Logue, Blake Acres, Darcy Tucker and Lloyd Meek all expressed their interest in trades in their exit meetings with the club this week and could all find new homes this trade period.

Given that some of those players are still contracted, Hasleby explained how he came up with each player’s worth on SEN WA The Run Home.

“What are they worth (in a trade) but also what are they worth to Fremantle and the club?” Hasleby asked.

“That’s pretty important because, in the case of Rory Lobb, he is 30, but he’s contracted.

“So, to leave, the Bulldogs will have to pay more at the trade table.

“Also, the length of the deal, the moderator in the trade scenario can say, ‘You’re offering this, but based on this length of contract, that’s the proper compensation for this player’.”

Check out what Hasleby thinks each Docker is worth in a trade below.

Rory Lobb
Has requested a trade to the Bulldogs.

“I would say (pick) 20 to 25, a second-rounder, because of that contracted factor.”

Griffin Logue
Has requested a trade to North Melbourne.

“I’d say for him, a second-rounder which would be around (pick) 25.

“I feel for the five-year deal from them (North Melbourne), that’s a fair asking price.”

Blake Acres
Has requested a trade to Carlton.

“Acres, I think he’s a third-rounder around, he pushes out to (pick) 40 to 45.

“Given his contract is nowhere near as big as other players.”

Darcy Tucker
Is open to a move to a Victorian club.

“Is probably (pick) 40 to 50.

“He hasn’t been playing for Fremantle.”

Lloyd Meek
Has requested a trade, with the Eagles, Demons and Giants interested.

“Then you’ve got Meek, I think he can go pretty high, (in the range of pick) 25 to 30.

“Again, because he’s contracted, and the Giants are desperate to get a ruckman.

“Fremantle probably want to hold onto another ruckman, in an ideal world, you have Darcy, you have Jackson, but you need one more.

“You can either lose him and go and get another young kid for backup.

“Each team should have three ruckmen, if you have one or two go down, you’re in a vulnerable spot.”

If Fremantle does pull off those trades and bring in three second-round picks and two third-round selections, Hasleby hopes that they can package them for a first-rounder to a club that’s looking to bank points for father-son or academy draftees.

“I still have hopes that if you put all that together it may lead to a first-rounder,” Hasleby said.

“Hopefully Fremantle can utilise this year to bring someone in to cover the loss of these players.”

The 2022 AFL Trade Period begins on Monday, October 3 and ends on Wednesday, October 12.
