First-round Saint “likely” to join rival as Edmund delivers trade wrap on Grundy, Narkle & more

2022-09-20T11:35+10:00

SEN’s Sam Edmund has provided a comprehensive trade update on several players whose futures remain up in the air.

Speaking on SEN’s Whateley, Edmund gave the latest on Collingwood ruckman Brodie Grundy, St Kilda’s Hunter Clark, Geelong’s Quinton Narkle, Western Bulldogs midfielder Josh Dunkley and more.

See Edmund’s trade update on SEN’s Whateley below:

Brodie Grundy (Collingwood)

“We await word this morning or hopefully this afternoon from Brodie Grundy of where he will play football next year.

“I think he’ll definitely get to Melbourne, the terms, the money, we don’t know.

“If it’s a late pick back from Melbourne then the Dees are playing close to the full whack, he has five years left at $5 million of course.

“If Melbourne give up a top pick, then Collingwood is contributing heavily like they did for (Adam) Treloar, that’s the most likely scenario.”

Quinton Narkle (Geelong)

“Quinton Narkle, his management are in talks with multiple clubs.

“The Cats say he’s a required player, but he has no contract, he’s not playing.

“If there’s a suitor there, Quinton Narkle will definitely be playing for someone else next year.”

Hunter Clark (St Kilda)

“We saw the concessions that were given North Melbourne yesterday.

“Incidentally, that future second-rounder, I expect them to use that on Hunter Clark.

“I think that’s likely at the moment as we sit here right now.

“I think that future second-rounder that they’ve been given – a 2023 second-round pick – could be involved.”

Josh Dunkley (Western Bulldogs)

“The Dogs wanted two first-rounders for Dunkley when Essendon came knocking (in 2020).

“Now he’s 25 Josh Dunkley, he had one of his best seasons statistically (in 2022) so they’re going to drive a hard bargain.

“He’s out of contract, he was in contract last time and they had a greater foothold in negotiations the Dogs.

“But it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out and how the Lions navigate it going forward.”

Jack Gunston (Hawthorn)

“(Brisbane) maintain an interest, I might add, in Jack Gunston.

“He’s a free agent, as of this morning there’s still no decision from Jack Gunston who’s weighing up a move to the Gabba.”
