Bartlett launches legal action against Melbourne president, directors

2022-09-22T06:56+10:00

Former Melbourne president Glen Bartlett has commenced legal action against four key figures at the club.

The Herald Sun is reporting that Bartlett has filed a writ in the Supreme Court of Western Australia for defamation.

He claims he was defamed by president Kate Roffey as well as directors Steve Morris, David Robb and David Rennick.

The alleged defamation stems from a board statement published in June this year.

It is understood that Bartlett is seeking “damages for defamation, including aggravated compensatory damages and special damages”.

Bartlett’s exit from the Demons was clouded after a reported disagreement with CEO Gary Pert and other senior officials, relating to the report regarding behavioural issues at the club involving coach Simon Goodwin.

Bartlett swiftly left the club early last season despite being re-elected for 12 months with Roffey stepping in to replace him.
