Jason Johannisen will remain with the Western Bulldogs after signing a new two-year deal at the club.
Johannisen, 29, had attracted strong interest from Gold Coast during the year and looked set to test the waters as an unrestricted free agent during the trade period.
But the utility has chosen to extend his contract at Whitten Oval, with list manager Sam Power stating the club was happy he’d decided to stay.

“We’re really pleased to have Jason commit to the club for another two years,” Power said in a club statement.
“Jason has played a variety of roles for the team over the past few years and his experience in the game will prove a valuable asset for the club moving forward.
“He sets a high standard for himself on field and is much-loved by his teammates off it.”
Johannisen managed just seven games for the Dogs in 2022 after being edged out of the Bulldogs’ best 22, but says he’s “incredibly grateful” for the faith shown in him via the new deal.
“The Western Bulldogs is a really special place to me and I couldn’t be happier to get the chance to continue playing football here for the next few years,” Johannisen said.
“It’s a really positive time to be a part of this team, our list is exciting as we continue to strive for sustained success.”
“I’ve got lifelong friends here, I love pulling on the red, white and blue each week in front of our amazing supporters and fans.”
Johannisen wil now remain at the Dogs until 2024.
