Every club has a wishlist but every club also has a budget.
But not many out there know exactly what is on said list or exactly what each club has up their sleeve to spend.
Josh Jenkins has given each of the 18 clubs a round $1 million figure to spend THIS trade period on a player or players they require.
This is a hypothetical look at what a club needs, but ensuring the players in question are somewhat gettable and the deals are not fanciful.
It is what Jenkins thinks is needed and how the clubs in question should spend their $1m.
Following his Brisbane wishlist, Jenkins has taken a look at a team that just missed out on finals in 2022, the Carlton Blues.
Carlton’s budget – Hold the cash
Jenkins believes the Blues shouldn’t be big spenders this off-season.
“Hold the cash, because they’re going to have to spend it in 12 months' time,” he said on AFL Trade Radio’s Trade Mornings.
“$1 million might not be enough, we spoke about the fact that I like everything they’ve got.
“I like their personnel, I like the way they played earlier in the season, they were so dominant around the ball.
“Their synergy for a brand new midfield was quite stunning, the way they were able to shape the ball out of stoppage and run at the game to give their two forwards opportunity was awesome earlier in the year.
“Personnel played a massive part in their downfall, injuries played a gigantic part.
“Save the cash because the big guy (Harry McKay) in the front half will want that and a little bit more (when he comes out of contract next year).”
