Star Gold Coast forward returns home as Suns and Crows agree trade

2022-10-10T15:02+11:00

Adelaide has their man with Gold Coast forward Izak Rankine joining the club via trade.

The Crows parted with pick no.5 in this year’s draft and future third and fourth-round picks in exchange for the small forward, pick 46 and a future fourth-round selection (tied to Fremantle).

Rankine has reportedly signed a three-year deal with the Crows.

The 22-year-old was drafted third overall in the 2018 draft and returns home having hailed from the West Adelaide Football Club.

Renowned as one of the game’s brightest prospects, Rankine kicked 29 goals from 18 games in 2022 where he averaged 13.5 disposals, 1.6 goals and 2.2 tackles a game. He also ranked sixth in goal assists per game.

Having already added Brisbane’s Tom Berry and St Kilda’s Ben Long prior to Rankine’s departure, the Suns are expected to be one of the busier teams this trade period with the likes of Brayden Fiorini, Jack Bowes and Josh Corbett also linked with exits.
