Port Adelaide finalises list ahead of draft with two delistings

2022-10-14T16:18+11:00

Port Adelaide has finalised its list ahead of the National Draft, delisting two players while re-signing two more.

Jed McEntee and Trent Dumont have both been offered new contracts for 2023 on one-year deals. However, Martin Frederick and Dylan Williams have been delisted, although the club will select Williams in the rookie draft.

Frederick, 22, played six games in 2022 among 14 overall. Williams debuted against Sydney in Round 15, 2021 for his one and only game at AFL level to date.

On Frederick, Port list manager Jason Cripps said: “Marty is a much loved player at our club who came through our Next Generation Academy program.

“Unfortunately, we have reached the time of the year where we have to make tough decisions regarding the future of our list.

“After four years on our list, Marty was unable to establish himself as a consistent performer within our AFL team and we have had to make the difficult decision not to offer him a contract moving forward.

“We wish Marty all the best for the future and he will always be welcome here at Port Adelaide.”

Meanwhile, McEntee played nine games in 2022 while Dumont managed eight appearances after being delisted by North Melbourne last year.

Cripps detailed his excitement for the duo to continue at Alberton, along with Williams.

“Trent, Jed and Dylan are all at different stages of their careers but we are equally pleased to have them continue for at least another year,” Cripps said.

“Jed has attributes that we value and we were impressed with his finish to this season at AFL level as a small pressure forward.

“Trent has played more than 100 AFL games providing experience and leadership for our younger emerging players and continues to play a role as a hard running midfielder.

“And whilst we will de-list Dylan from our Primary List we have committed to recruiting him via the National Rookie Draft in November.”

The Power only have two draft picks in the National Draft in 2022, coming at selections 33 and 60.
