Dragons urged to address “damning allegations” from Gosiewski

2022-10-19T10:15+11:00

St George Illawarra must publicly address the latest allegation made against the club.

That is according to Michelle Bishop who believes it is time for the Dragons to speak up after Jack Gosiewski accused the club of exiling him from the team.

Gosiewski revealed to the Daily Telegraph that he did not play another game in season 2022 after he withdrew from the Round 11 meeting with the Warriors because of complications relating to the birth of his baby Goldie.

The second-rower, who crossed from Manly prior to the 2022 season, was set to start against the Warriors before missing the game and was subsequently dropped from the starting lineup for the following week.

He then failed to make the weekly 17 for the remainder of the campaign.

The allegations from Gosiewski come after veteran George Burgess revealed he had a strained relationship with coach Anthony Griffin.

With this information coming to light, Bishop says now is the time for the Dragons to address their crumbling foundations.

“This to me is one of the most concerning stories I’ve heard in a long time,” Bishop said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.

“I really thought we were much more mature, especially when it comes to the NRL in clubland.

“Another dejected Dragons player, Jack Gosiewski, has spoken out about his failed relationship with coach Anthony Griffin. This is on the back of George Burgess yesterday and I’d really like an explanation from the club.

“He (Gosiewski) claims that he never played another game in the NRL after Round 11. He withdrew this year in the lead-up to Round 11 because of complications surrounding the birth of his first child.

“They’re pretty damning allegations. He’d already played four games in the NRL in the lead-up to this.

“You’d imagine that you’d be able to pull out of a game for the birth of your child, with or without complications.

“I’d love to hear more from St George Illawarra in regards to this because that’s pretty serious.

“I’d love to hear from the club because we’re only hearing from one side.”

Gosiewski is yet to sign a deal with the Dragons for next season and is reported to be on the radar of the North Queensland Cowboys.
