Brisbane CEO not interested in vacant Essendon, Collingwood and North Melbourne positions

Brisbane CEO Greg Swann has confirmed he’ll remain with the Lions despite being courted by multiple clubs.

With CEO vacancies at Collingwood, North Melbourne and Essendon, the AFL Daily podcast floated that Swann was a person of interest for both the Kangaroos and Bombers as they look to fill the key role.

Despite hailing from Melbourne, Swann says he will remain in Brisbane where he has unfinished business.

“There’s three at the minute, there’s North, Essendon and now Collingwood,” Swann said on SENQ’s Pat and Heals.

“I’ve been to one of them (Collingwood), so they won’t have me back, and the others I’m not sure.

“But I’m loving it up here and I’ve got a little bit of work still to finish.

“Hopefully we can do that in the next couple of years.”

With clubs headhunting Swann, reports have suggested that the CEO will remain with the Lions on a multi-year arrangement and the man himself says he’ll certainly add to his seven years at the club.

“I’m good, seven years here and I’m staying,” Swann said.

“There’s a little bit of talk of people going back to Melbourne but not me.

“I’m staying here, and I love it.”

Having experienced being in charge of powerhouse clubs Collingwood and Carlton, Swann says he hopes Brisbane can help turn AFL into a “religion” like it is in Melbourne.

“It’s a lot different, more just about the coverage, the passion and the things that happen with Collingwood,” Swann said.

“I was just down there (Melbourne) for the (Spring) Carnival and people still talk to you about things that happened 10 years ago when I was there.

“It’s a lot different, when I came here it is a Broncos town and we’ll see how the Dolphins go.

“But we’ve made good inroads from a code’s point of view, the Lions are now front of mind for a lot of people, we’ve done well there.

“But it’s not the same, it’s a religion down in Melbourne but hopefully we get there.”

Swann has been in charge of the Lions since 2014, with the club turning around significantly both on and off the field since his appointment.
