Votes from the 16 games linked to Brownlow betting scandal revealed

2022-11-15T13:19+11:00

Michael Pell has been named as the umpire arrested as part of Victoria Police’s Brownlow betting scandal investigation.

It is alleged the 32-year-old engaged in conduct that corrupts or would corrupt a betting outcome regarding the Brownlow Medal, specifically round-by-round voting.

Reports have suggested a betting agency flagged suspicious bets when a punter or punters placed bets on individual player votes from different matches, with each of those wagers winning.

Pell officiated 16 AFL matches in 2022, with Police and the league identifying him as the man involved after cross-checking each result to find the first-year umpire as the one constant from each game wagered on.

With 96 votes handed out in those 16 games, below is a list of each match Pell umpired and the corresponding Brownlow Votes for each.
