“Absolutely no truth in it”: Crow categorically denies Carlton trade links

2022-11-24T09:10+11:00

Adelaide wingman Lachie Sholl has categorically denied the trade chatter linking him to Carlton across the 2022 season.

Many trade reports linked Sholl to the Blues, despite the Crow being contracted through to the end of 2024.

The 22-year-old is the son of former Carlton player Brett Sholl and found himself in and out of the Adelaide side, playing only 11 games in 2022.

However, Sholl has completely rebuked all trade reports.

“There was absolutely no truth in it at all actually, it was quite surprising,” he told SEN SA’s The Run Home.

“I obviously had mates and mum and dad sending me screenshots of the articles going ‘what’s happening?’, but I had not heard a thing.

“There was absolutely no truth to it at all and obviously I’m very happy here at Adelaide and very settled anyway.

“It was a bit surprising to get that, but anyway that’s footy.”

Former Adelaide recruiter Matt Rendell believes Sholl may be better off finding a new home if he can’t find a regular game next season.

“He’s in a difficult position at the Crows. They’ve got so many players like him – and better than him, I think – so it’s really difficult for him,” Rendell said.

“He’s got to have a breakout year there. He’s got all the skills in the world, he’s only a little fella. He’s capable of playing, but he’s just got to be in the right place and the Crows have a stack of midfielders now and he’s too far down the list.

“I think he could find a home if he can’t get a game next year.”

Sholl, a two-time Rising Star nominee, has played 38 games over three seasons with the Crows.
