Report: Melbourne star undergoes pre-Christmas surgery

Melbourne star Clayton Oliver has undergone surgery on his thumb, according to the Herald Sun.

Oliver has reportedly had an issue with his right hand, and is expected to return to full training following the Christmas break.

The 2022 AFL Coaches Association Player of the year fractured his thumb during the season, only missing the one game but needing surgery at the time.

The incident occurred when his hand was kicked in a loss to Geelong.

The 25-year-old averaged 32.7 disposals, 8.7 clearances, 5.5 tackles and 5.4 inside 50s per game in 2022.
