Manly set to send Tom Trbojevic to America for rehab

2022-12-22T15:34+11:00

Manly superstar Tom Trbojevic has today confirmed he will follow in the path of Latrell Mitchell and seek treatment for his injured hamstring in the USA.

Trbojveic’s injury history on his right hamstring has been well-documented and has kept him out of action at Manly’s preseason training for the last week.

After playing just seven games last season, Trbojevic’s latest injury blow threatened to rule him out of the season opener in early March.

In a statement released by the club on Thursday afternoon, Manly confirmed that Trbojevic would see the same doctor that Mitchell did and that coach Anthony Seibold was happy to get him world-class help.

“I’m pleased to announce that will be sending Tom (Trbojevic) over to the United States, Philadelphia specifically,” Seibold said on seaeagles.com.au.

“He will work with one of the world’s best reconditioning specialists in Bill Knowles.

“Bill has worked with Latrell Mitchell in the past amongst other athletes, so it is a great opportunity for Tom to go over there.

“He will spend two weeks and 20 sessions working on reconditioning his body and specifically his hamstring.

“We thought as a club we wanted to provide the best services to Tom and we thought Bill Knowles was the person we would turn to.”

Trbojevic acknowledged Mitchell’s success in seeing Knowles and stated his ambition to follow his road to recovery.

“I am very grateful, I want to thank Seibs and Tony and Shaw and Partners for helping out with the trip,” Trbojevic said.

“You obviously saw what Latrell did on the back of it, so I think it is a really good opportunity for me to go over there and look at a few new ideas and pick some things out that I can take back here and hopefully have a really good 2023.”

Manly CEO Tony Mestrov labelled the move as a “no-brainer” whilst noting the key involvement of sponsors in funding the trip.
