Your AFL club’s top disposal tallies of the last five years

2023-01-01T10:40+11:00

Who are the best ball-winners at your club?

We all love a player who can rack them up, especially if you’re in some sort of AFL fantasy league.

In a bid to fill the footy void, we’ve taken a look at each of the 18 clubs and which players have racked up the most individual disposals tallies over the last five years (2018-2022).

Some clubs (Western Bulldogs) have multiple players hit the 40-touch mark while others (Richmond) had none.

Some clubs have only a couple of players who constantly rack them up, others have several.

Let’s take a look at your club’s stats beasts and we’ve also provided the overall list of individual game tallies since 2018.

(And yes, we are well aware it’s the off-season).

ADELAIDE club banner

The Crows’ list is made up of three players - Matt Crouch, Rory Laird and Brad Crouch (now with St Kilda).

The remaining Crouch has several 40-plus games, as does Laird who has won three Malcolm Blight Medals.

Crouch’s 47 is the highest mark, while Laird hit 42 twice in season 2022, just one short of his career best.

Adelaide disposals

BRISBANE club banner

Brownlow Medallist Lachie Neale dominates the list for the Lions.

He has the top six games to his name including a 51-touch blitz against the Tigers in 2019.

Former skipper Dayne Beams enters twice while Jarryd Lyons also has an entry.

Neale owns the next six not seen here to hold 16 of Brisbane’s top 19 individual stats returns.

Brisbane disposals

CARLTON club banner

The Carlton list is topped by captain and reigning Brownlow Medallist Patrick Cripps.

He features in eight of their top 16, ably supported by Sam Walsh who has six entries having twice reached 40 touches in 2022.

Ed Curnow has one entry from 2018 and 342-game former fan favourite Kade Simpson also dropped in.

Carlton disposals

COLLINGWOOD club banner

Steele Sidebottom had a couple of fill-ups in 2018 and they remain at the top of the list for the Pies over the last five years.

The remainder of the list is basically made up by the prolific Adam Treloar who has seven entries of 38 touches or more.

First-year sensation Nick Daicos landed himself a slot with a 40-disposal effort late last season. Expect him to feature heavily on the stats sheet in the coming years.

Collingwood disposals

ESSENDON club banner

As expected, Darcy Parish and Zach Merrett are dominant for the Dons.

Parish is a 40-plus touch monster who holds the top five entries. Likewise, Merrett is an accumulator who has five entries of his own.

Just below the list is a group of 38, 37 and 36-disposal games made up of - you guessed it - Parish and Merrett, with a couple of additions from Dyson Heppell and Dylan Shiel.

Essendon disposals

FREMANTLE club banner

Skipper Nat Fyfe is at the top of the Fremantle list with his 43-touch effort back in 2018.

He still holds three other entries in this list despite missing plenty of footy over the last few seasons.

New kid on the block Andrew Brayshaw has stamped himself in the prolific category with four entries including three of 39 or more.

Recruit Will Brodie sneaks in with a pair of 37s, while the others on the list are former Dockers Lachie Neale, Ed Langdon and Bradley Hill.

Fremantle disposals

GEELONG club banner

The Cats have a nice mix of prolific players on their list.

Cam Guthrie leads the way and has a second entry down the list (plus a handful of 36-possession games).

Tom Stewart is one of the only defenders to feature across the entire competition, amassing 40 touches on two occasions last season.

Club great Gary Ablett is in three times, all from his return year of 2018, and there are a couple of slots for inspirational premiership skipper, the now retired Joel Selwood.

Patrick Dangerfield also features prominently such is his penchant for picking up plenty of the pill.

Geelong disposals

GOLD COAST club banner

The Suns haven’t been as prolific as other teams with only two players hitting the 40-mark since 2018.

That pair is Brayden Fiorini and Brandon Ellis, which many might not have guessed.

Fiorini features twice in the top three, while former Sun Jarryd Lyons also makes the list.

Superstar midfielder and co-captain Touk Miller has eight of the top 12 entries for the Suns, highlighting his dominance in recent years.

Gold Coast disposals

GWS GIANTS club banner

The Giants have a strong list with plenty of different contributors.

Lachie Whitfield is at the top with a game of 42 touches in 2019 and was almost joined by Josh Kelly who picked up 41 on two occasions, including one last season. (His career best is 43 in 2017).

Now-departed pair Jacob Hopper and Tim Taranto have gained entries, as has leading goalkicker Toby Greene.

Stephen Coniglio and Callan Ward are obviously on the list, and somewhat surprisingly Harry Himmelberg also features following his shift to defence.

GWS Giants disposals

HAWTHORN club banner

Hawthorn’s list is quite interesting.

Tom Mitchell has absolutely dominated the disposal charts for the Hawks in recent years and has 13 of their top 14 entries here, including two over 50 (he has three half-centuries for his career).

Mitchell has since departed the club for Collingwood and the only other player on the list - Jaeger O’Meara - has also left for Fremantle.

It leaves James Worpel’s 37 in 2019 as the best return by a current Hawk since 2018.

Hawthorn disposals

MELBOURNE club banner

If you’re up against the Demons, it is generally seen that either Clayton Oliver or Christian Petracca will get you.

However, it is Oliver who does the most damage. ‘Clarry’ has the top five entries plus six others ranging from 45 down to 38 touches.

Petracca and Angus Brayshaw feature multiple times, while Ed Langdon and Christian Salem occasionally pop their head up.

Melbourne disposals

NORTH MELBOURNE club banner

The Kangaroos have just one 40-plus instance over the last five years.

That was Jy Simpkin late last season. The two-time best and fairest has two entries on this list with plenty more to come, no doubt.

Ben Cunnington ranks second courtesy of his career high back in 2018 and has another spot in the top group, also stemming from the 2018 season.

Jaidyn Stephenson has a high entry while there are a host of other names all on 38, including Aaron Hall, Jack Ziebell and Luke Davies-Uniacke, plus former Roos Shaun Higgins and Trent Dumont.

North Melbourne disposals

PORT ADELAIDE club banner

Known pigskin purveyor Tom Rockliff leads the Power’s list with 44 touches and also has another entry in the top four. The former midfielder features four times in the top 15.

Brownlow Medallist Ollie Wines has the most Port entries with six, while his partner in crime Travis Boak has three.

The recently retired Robbie Gray and rebounding defender Riley Bonner also get a slot in the top echelon of Power disposal getters.

Port Adelaide disposals

RICHMOND club banner

The Tigers are the only team who don’t have a player who hit the 40-disposal mark in the past five years.

In fact, they haven’t had one since Dustin Martin got there twice in his history-making 2017 season.

Retired premiership half-back Bachar Houli leads the way alongside Dusty, who did all of his damage in 2019 in relation to this list.

Star midfielder Dion Prestia lands three entries, one of which came in 2022.
Three-time flag skipper Trent Cotchin has one mention while Jack Graham, Jayden Short and former Tiger Brandon Ellis make up the list.

Richmond disposals

ST KILDA club banner

Seb Ross features prominently for the Saints with three of the top four entries, all coming in 2018 and 2019.

Jack Steele’s career-best 40 touches last season rockets him up the list. The captain has several other entries.

Brad Crouch is in there four times after crossing from the Crows, ex-Swan Zak Jones is in the mix, reigning best and fairest Jack Sinclair has an entry, as does Jimmy Webster.

St Kilda disposals

SYDNEY club banner

The Swans have four 40-plus entries, with three of those belonging to prolific defender Jake Lloyd, who also owns seven of the top 11.

The other frequent stats winner for the Swans is former skipper Josh Kennedy, who has since retired.

Sydney’s newest star, Callum Mills, has one entry which came from his best and fairest-winning 2022 season.

Sydney disposals

WEST COAST club banner

Dom Sheed has had some big games for the Eagles in recent years. He sits atop the list thanks to this career-best 43 in 2021.

Former Cat Tim Kelly has three entries including two of more than 40 touches.

Andrew Gaff is the most prominent ball winner for West Coast with five in the top 13.

On-ball pair Luke Shuey and Jack Redden make up the list.

West Coast disposals

WESTERN BULLDOGS club banner

As expected, the Dogs have the most prolific of lists.

All 16 of their entries are 40 or more disposals with a remarkable 10 of them belonging to Jack Macrae.

Bailey Smith hit the 40-mark twice in 2022 and threatens to do so frequently in the coming years.

Lachie Hunter, now with the Demons, and Josh Dunkley, now with the Lions, both have entries, while Jason Johannisen and Caleb Daniel also feature.

Western Bulldogs disposals

We’ve also looked at the overall list of the top disposal efforts since the beginning of the 2018 season.
