Crows confirm Seedsman ruled out for 2023

2023-01-17T14:41+11:00

Paul Seedman is not in a position to play AFL in 2023.

The sad revelation out of the Crows comes after Seedsman missed the entire 2022 season due to a head knock suffered before Christmas in 2021.

The 30-year-old continues to deal with the lingering effects of concussion, and as such, has been placed on Adelaide’s inactive list for 2023.

The club’s head of football, Adam Kelly, says Seedsman has been robbed of two of his prime footballing years.

“We have come to the realisation that Paul will not be in a position to play this year given he is still experiencing symptoms and has not been able to advance his physical preparation for the season ahead,” Kelly said in a club statement.

“To Paul’s credit, he came forward and acknowledged this now so the Club can identify someone in the pre-season supplemental selection period (SSP) that we can provide an opportunity to.

“Throughout his recovery we have remained fully supportive and hopeful of him returning to football however, the priority has always been his health and wellbeing.

“As an industry we understand concussion is a serious and complex injury and while on the inactive list Paul will continue to work closely with our doctors and medical staff, as well as concussion experts.

“He remains an important part of our group and has our full support in what has been a very challenging time, losing two years of his career after what was an outstanding 2021 season.”

Seedsman has played 83 of his 132 games for Adelaide. He comes out of contract at the end of 2023.
