Adelaide sign former Collingwood father-son following delisting

Former Collingwood midfielder Tyler Brown has received an AFL lifeline with Adelaide after joining the Crows as a pre-season supplemental selection.

With paperwork officially filed on Wednesday morning, Brown is locked in at West Lakes on a one-year rookie contract after arriving to train with the club this week.

Brown’s addition to the list comes after both Fisher McAsey and Paul Seedsman were placed on Adelaide’s inactive list for 2023.

Adelaide GM of list management and strategy Justin Reid was “thrilled” to add Brown to the Crows’ list.

“Tyler brings experience from five years in the AFL system and knows what it takes to play at the highest level so we are thrilled to add him to our group,” Reid said via a statement.

“He is primarily a midfielder but can also play a variety of roles across the ground which we are excited about.

“He comes from a very good football family, is hard-working and driven to make the most of his opportunity so we look forward to having him at the Club for the 2023 season.”

Brown himself was grateful to Adelaide for allowing him to continue his dream of playing AFL football.

“I’m very grateful for getting another opportunity to join an AFL club and I’m really excited to be part of a young group that has a lot of promise for the future,” he said.

“I felt welcome here as soon as I walked in the door and I’m looking forward to getting stuck into training with my new teammates.”

The 23-year-old played 27 games for the Magpies between 2018 and 2022 before being delisted in the off-season.
