AFL Media’s Josh Gabelich says Fremantle supporters should be keeping a close eye on Perth forward Sam Stubbs.
Stubbs, who has made a name for himself via the social media platform Tiktok, was invited to train with the Dockers this pre-season as they look to fill the final spot on their list.
Funnily enough, it’s Stubbs’ football ability that Fremantle are keen on and not his TikTok videos, despite having a very impressive 131,000 followers.
Gabelich is reporting the WAFL product knocked back a marketing job in Sydney to train with the Dockers last month.
Stubbs enjoyed a terrific 2022 season for Perth where the mid-sized forward kicked 41 goals in 31 WAFL appearances and won the Demons’ leading goal-kicker award last season with 23.
Gippsland Power tall Liam Serong, the younger brother of Dockers star Caleb, has also been invited to train with the club.
“There is a TikTok sensation trialling at Fremantle right now,” Gabelich told SEN Mornings.
“I was told that he had a contract to go across to Sydney for a marketing opportunity in December but Fremantle came and invited him to train, so he knocked back that marketing opportunity on the head.
“He’s a 25-year-old that’s played in the WAFL for Perth, he a forward and is really raw, he hasn’t played too much state league football, but David Walls hasn’t been afraid to go to the state leagues, we saw him go and get Corey Wagner in November and Liam Reidy who is a ruckman out of Frankston.
“Just keep an eye on this one. They’ve got one spot left, Liam Serong, the brother of Caleb Serong is also trialling for that spot but it’s one to keep an eye on.”
The pre-season supplemental selection period ends on February 15.
