Does Brisbane defender Harris Andrews receive too much criticism?
After making back to back All-Australian teams in 2019 and 2020, the 26-year-old has come under fire for what has appeared to be lesser form in the last 24 months.
Josh Jenkins believes Andrews carries a heavy load in the Lions backline, covering for others.
“I don’t see the issues that people seem to create (about Andrews),” Jenkins told SEN’s The Run Home.
“He carries a hefty load because they do have a few guys back there who are there to attack more-so than defend.
“So, at different stages he does get caught. He might get rag-dolled everyone now and then because he’s got the mindset of ‘I’ve got to help this guy, I’ve got to help this guy’, and all of a sudden ‘geez I forgot about my guy who is 105kg who can push me out of the road’.
“I feel for him in a sense. He’s one of those guys who just moves in a way people can be critical of. People are critical of the way people move, whether it looks like they’re not trying hard enough or they hang their head or whatever.”
Brisbane will need to reshape their backline in 2023, with Marcus Adams placed on their inactive list due to ongoing concussion issues.
