“Most important” Bomber reportedly suffers calf injury at training

2023-01-25T11:53+11:00

Peter Wright has reportedly suffered a calf injury at Essendon training on Wednesday afternoon – is he the player the Bombers can least afford to lose to injury in 2023?

Josh Jenkins believes so.

The Herald Sun have reported that Wright hurt his calf at pre-season training, hobbling from the track and receiving medical attention.

Jenkins is bullish on Wright, believing him to be key to Essendon’s 2023 hopes.

“He’s probably the one at Essendon you don’t want to get injured at this time of the year,” he told SEN Mornings.

“He had an amazing season last year. You could not speak more highly of how he went about it when everything else was unravelling around him. He was absolutely superb last year as the number one forward for the Bombers.

“He’s also out of contact so Adrian Dodoro needs to open the cheque book because he deserves a fair bit of coin.

“That injury news is no good at all. I think he’s the one who is the most important at Bomberland this year.”

Essendon already lost first round pick Elijah Tsatas to a meniscus injury for a few months.
