Melbourne City confirms the permanent appointment of Rado Vidosic

On the heels of a massive 6-1 victory over Macarthur FC, Melbourne City has rewarded interim coach Rado Vidosic with a new contract which will see him become the permanent coach of the A-League Men’s side.

Vidosic took over the Men’s side on an interim basis in November, taking over from Patrick Kisnorbo, who departed for Ligue 1 side Troyes.

The 61-year-old has excelled at the helm of the Mne’s side, keeping City at the top of the A-League ladder and leading them to their best-ever start to a season.

City’s Director of Football, Michael Petrillo admitted the club looked internally for coaching options first and is confident in the decision to give Vidosic the reigns permanently.

“We are a club that looks internally before we look externally and when we know we have the right person within our ranks, we have no hesitation in giving them the first opportunity,” he said in a press release.

“We’ve seen over the years his ability to implement the City way of playing football starting with our Academy, then our A-League Women’s team and over the last couple of months, the A-League Men’s team.

“Along with his belief in the way we play, he has also continued to nurture the culture inherent within the football club and this is one of the most important factors we took into consideration before making this appointment.

“We have an excellent group of coaches and staff, along with a great playing group. We now look forward to continuing to build on an excellent start to the season and a relentless push for continued success.”

Vidosic and City will look to extend their lead atop of the A-League table when they travel to Macedonia Park to face Perth Glory.
