“We’re in constant conversation”: Port Adelaide forward offers update on contract talks

2023-02-27T15:01+11:00

Soon to be off-contract Port Adelaide forward Mitch Georgiades isn’t rushing to ink an extension with the Power.

The medium forward attracted interest from the likes of West Coast during last year’s trade period and as a former first-round pick will be a player in high demand should he remain unsigned beyond 2023.

While he’s not hurrying to sign a new deal, Georgiades says his management is constantly speaking to the club as he continues to enjoy his time at Alberton.

“We’re in constant conversation with the club,” Georgiades told SEN WA Mornings.

“Right now, I’m focusing on just starting the year and just getting to play some good footy and letting that stuff take care of itself.

“I’m really enjoying my time here, we’ve got a really good group and us young boys are really tight knit.”

While Georgiades says his focus is simply on this season, he did admit that he and the wider group are excited about where they may be headed, offering Port fans hope that he plans to stay at the club long-term.

“The whole group is really optimistic about where we’re going, not only this year but into the future,” Georgiades said.

“Like I said right now I’m just focusing on getting to the end of the pre-season and start of the season and going from there.”

Georgiades and the Power continue their pre-season when they face the Dockers in a practice match at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Thursday evening.

Port Adelaide open their 2023 season proper with a Round 1 clash against Brisbane on March 18 at the Adelaide Oval.
