Footy legend Blight's advice for Horne-Francis

2023-03-10T11:26+11:00

South Australian footballing legend Malcolm Blight has called former number one draft pick Jason Horne-Francis a “rusher” footballer.

The premiership player and coach believes that the Power recruit would benefit from using a bit more patience out on the field.

“You know when you try to impress so much? I felt it at North Melbourne and I even felt it for the games for Port Adelaide,” Blight told SEN's Sportsday SA.

“He just rushes everything, gives away free kicks.”

Blight believes that his habits as a “rusher” can be coached out of Horne-Francis if the talented 19-year-old continues to work on the mental side of the game.

“He’ll learn you know, playing football, you’ve got to have the all-round ability, but a fair bit of it, when you get the ability he’s got, it’s between the ears,” Blight said.

“You know sometimes you can wait for something to happen and then move.”

Horne-Francis was involved in a four club mega trade to Port Adelaide after playing 17 games for North Melbourne last year.
