AFL Nation commentator Adam White has taken a look at the AFL premiership betting market to try and find some value for punters.
Currently on Bet365, Melbourne are the flag favourites at $4.75, while Collingwood are just behind them at $5.
While the bookies seem to rate both sides as somewhat equal chances to win it all, White believes the Demons should be at far shorter odds and represent value at their current price.
“Having a look at the futures, there’s a couple of things that are interesting here,” White told SEN Giddy Up.
“I cannot believe Melbourne are $4.75 for the flag.
“I cannot believe that after Collingwood got beaten by Brisbane last week that they’ve shortened for the flag, they came in from $5.25 to $5.
“Melbourne is still at $4.75 for the flag, to me Melbourne should be $3 or $3.25, that really surprises me.”
The other side that represents value for White is Geelong who are currently the fifth-shortest odds at $9, with both Brisbane and Carlton shorter than them at $8 each.
White expects odds for both the Cats and Demons to shorten over the coming weeks.
“The other one is that Geelong has flicked the switch,” White said.
“I think Geelong at $9 with some easy games to come and home games to come more importantly – they haven’t played down in Geelong yet – I think the Cats at $9 is value.
“I think you’ll find in a month those odds for those two teams won’t be there anymore.”
