Key Blue ruled out with hamstring injury, update provided on McGovern, Pittonet, Cuningham & more

2023-04-19T08:22+10:00

Carlton will be without star defender Adam Saad for their big clash with St Kilda as he deals with a low-grade hamstring issue.

Saad sat out the final moments of the club’s loss to Adelaide, with the club officially ruling him out of Round 6.

In better news, Mitch McGovern is a test to return to the line-up after being withdrawn late from Gather Round with a calf issue.

Ruckman Marc Pittonet has also been cleared to play despite being subbed out with an eye issue.

The Blues are hoping to integrate Jack Martin (calf), David Cuningham (calf) and Caleb Marchbank (calf) into training next week.

Cuningham and Martin were both withdrawn late from games at AFL and VFL level respectively with ‘calf soreness’, but have not been seen since.

Jordan Boyd and Matthew Cottrell have also made recoveries from foot injuries and are available for selection this week and next week respectively.

Carlton’s length injury list also includes Sam Docherty (knee, 4-6 weeks), Matthew Owies (hamstring, Round 8), Sam Philp (season) and Zac Williams (season).
