Pies get prime time slots as AFL releases Round 16 to 23 fixture

2023-05-18T15:00+10:00

The AFL has released its fixture for Round 16 to 23.

Ladder leader Collingwood has been rewarded for its superior form this season with four Friday night blockbusters between Rounds 17 and 23.

The Magpies will take on the Western Bulldogs, Carlton, Geelong and Brisbane in Friday night encounters.

Thursday night footy will also return in this block with three fixtures added - Round 16 (Brisbane v Richmond), Round 17 (Richmond v Sydney) and Round 18 (Sydney v Western Bulldogs).

The completion of the schedule comes off the back of a record-breaking total attendance of 3,047,247 fans across the first nine rounds of the 2023 season.

“After record-breaking crowds and viewership numbers in the first nine rounds, we’re set to launch into the back-half of the season and into the 2023 Toyota AFL Finals Series,” AFL Executive General Manager Finance, Clubs and Broadcasting Travis Auld said.

“We’ve listened to fans and fixtured an additional three Thursday night games, taking us to 11 for the year – one more than 2022.

“The season is wide open, with at least a dozen teams vying for a spot in September.”
