Daicos breathes easy as Sunday's MRO report lands

2023-05-22T17:34+10:00

Nick Daicos can breathe easy after only copping a fine from the Match Review Officer.

The 20-year-old superstar struck Blake Acres with a jumper punch in Collingwood’s win over Carlton on Sunday afternoon and there were fears he could be suspended.

A suspension would have ruled him out of the Brownlow Medal race.

But MRO Michael Christian elected to deem the strike low impact, alongside the intentional conduct grading.

He’s been offered a $3000 fine, $2000 with an early guilty plea.

Meanwhile, Jack Steele had MRO action taken against him from Sunday's game, with the Saints skipper also offered a fine for a rough conduct charge on Lachie Ash from the Giants.

Hawthorn defender Sam Frost also copped a fine for a strike on Eagle Connor West.
