The five teams under the most pressure heading into Round 11

2023-05-26T13:53+10:00

SEN’s Dwayne Russell has named the five teams under the most pressure heading into Round 11.

Russell’s pressure meter ranks teams from 1-5, with number one having the most pressure on them and most to lose heading into the round.

Check out Russell’s pressure meter below.

1 – Carlton
vs Sydney – SCG – Friday night

“Carlton are number one,” Russell told SEN Afternoons. “You don't want to call it an elimination final tonight because mathematically, the Blues could still play finals if they lose.

“But if Carlton lose, they’ll have lost their last three games so it is massive.

“Carlton are obviously number one on the pressure meter.”

2 – Sydney
vs Carlton – SCG – Friday night

“I think Sydney is still two.

“The Swans beat North Melbourne last week, but they made the Grand Final last year and they’ll drop to four and seven if they lose.

“I know they've got a lot of injuries, but they have got the bye next week.

“The Swans they must give this everything they've possibly got in the tank and get the win tonight.

“I think they're number two on the pressure meter.”

3 – Geelong
vs GWS – GMHBA Stadium – Saturday afternoon

“I think the Cats are number three.

“They’ve lost their last two games and they’re at home against an undermanned Giants.

“GWS have no (Harry) Himmelberg and no (Josh) Kelly.

“If the Cats win, they're 6-5 and they're solid in the eight for now if they win, but they could drop out the eight if they lose a home game.

“I think there is a bit of pressure on Geelong given they've lost their last two. I've got them three on my pressure meter.”

4 – Adelaide
vs Brisbane – Adelaide Oval – Sunday afternoon

“Adelaide I think are at four.

“They’re going very well this season Adelaide but they’re not always winning, they’ve lost three of their last four.

“They're home against the Lions and they're out of the eight if they lose.

“It's a pretty big game for the Adelaide Crows so I think they're pretty high on the pressure meter for mine.”

5 – Gold Coast
vs Western Bulldogs – TIO Stadium – Saturday afternoon

“My number five on the pressure meter is Gold Coast.

“This was meant to be the year that the Suns played finals.

“Like every year, they are promising more than they are actually delivering.

“Footy is a win loss business and the Suns will be four and seven if they lose to the Western Bulldogs.

“You’ve got to scrounge your win and the parameters are different in Darwin.

“This is playing in the Suns’ favour more so than it would be on the Gold Coast I think.”
