“He’s going to miss some football”: Edmund provides injury update on wounded Blues

2023-05-27T12:23+10:00

SEN’s Sam Edmund has provided an injury update on a number of wounded Carlton players.

As if the situation couldn’t get any worse for the Carlton Football Club, the club’s 27-point loss overnight to Sydney saw a number of their star players bruised and battered after the game.

Take a look at the full injury update. 👇

Ollie Hollands

“Suspected AC joint for him, he’s going to miss some football regardless of how severe that is,” Edmund told SEN’s Crunch Time.

Nic Newman

“Hamstring strain for Newman, he’s going to miss some football regardless of how severe that is. Both Newman and Hollands will be scanned in the next 24-48 hours.

George Hewitt (concussion)

“He’s also going to miss some football.

Patrick Cripps (ankle)

“Cripps had his ankle stepped on, he was sore but was walking around the rooms relatively fine post-match, flip a coin on that one.”

Not only do the Blues have injury grief, but they could also find themselves without star midfield Adam Cerra following a dangerous tackle on Sydney's Tom Hickey.

Despite playing out the rest of the game, Cerra's tackle will certainly be looked at during the weekend given the AFL's strong stance on dangerous tackles.

“He could very well have a case to answer for a dangerous tackle on Tom Hickey where his head appeared to hit the turf,” Edmund added of the Blues midfielder.
