The 4 certainties for Brisbane versus Sydney

2023-06-16T09:24+10:00

Back for another week, the SEN.com.au team gives you an insight into how every game will play out across the weekend.

Labelling something a ‘certainty’ in any sport is fraught with danger.

But we’ll attempt to find some anyway.

Here is what we consider certainties for the Round 14 Friday night clash between the Brisbane and Sydney

Lachie Neale to have 25+ disposals

Brisbane’s Lachie Neale was dominant in his last outing against Sydney.

In that Round 7 win in 2022, Neale had 37 disposals, one goal and 11 clearances.

While it’ll be hard for him to have that kind of output again, even playing half as well should see him cruise past 25 disposals.

Currently averaging 28 disposals a game so far this season, Neale should be thereabouts again.

Joe Daniher to kick two or more goals

Brisbane’s Joe Daniher has kicked at least two goals in five of his last six games.

While he was held to none in the Round 13 loss against Hawthorn, he’ll back himself to bounce back against the Swans.

Looking at Sydney’s line-up, they simply don’t have a tall defender to go with him aerially.

He could be in for a big game on Friday night.

Joel Amartey to kick at least one goal

With Lance Franklin and Isaac Heeney out injured, Sydney will need something from their other tall forwards if they’re to have any chance of upsetting Brisbane.

With those outs, 23-year-old Joel Amartey has been picked at a full-forward.

After returning as the sub last week following a severe hamstring injury, Amartey will hope to have an impact against Brisbane.

Having kicked six goals from five games so far this season, Amartey should get on the scoresheet against the Lions.

Luke Parker to have 25+ disposals

Sydney’s Luke Parker will be raring to go after missing the Round 13 loss to St Kilda with suspension.

With two weeks off under his belt, Parker should be primed and ready to go against the Lions.

Averaging 25 disposals a game this season and 28.6 touches a game across his last five outings, Parker will hope to be at his prolific best again.

With Callum Mills still out of the side, Parker will be relied upon at the source.

25 disposals is well within his grasp here.
