Campbell Brown has rubbished reports that Collingwood forward Jack Ginnivan was targeted by the Frankston Dolphins in the VFL last weekend.
Ginnivan was in the centre of a heated stoush on Sunday after the small forward was slammed to the ground by Frankston player Colby Nayna.
The tackle sparked an all-in melee between the two sides, and Ginnivan was one of many Collingwood players involved.
Collingwood fans feel the treatment of Ginnivan has gone too far and are flirting a potential protest in the coming weeks.
But Brown, who was commentating the game, said what’s being reported is a complete beat-up by the media and Collingwood supporters.
“This story about Jack Ginnivan getting targeted by Frankston players last weekend in the VFL is the greatest bunch of nonsense I’ve seen,” Brown told SEN.com.au.
“It simply didn’t happen.
“This is a complete beat-up over 10 seconds of vision in a melee.
“What’s being written on social media about the Ginnivan treatment is not what eventuated, it was a normal game of footy and what was clipped up on social media wasn’t what took place for the whole game.”
Jack Ginnivan finished the game with 12 touches, three tackles and no goals.
Collingwood won the game by 95 points.
