Multiple Blues ruled out of Pies clash as potential injury carnage looms

2023-07-24T18:18+10:00

Sam Walsh and Jack Silvagni won’t play against Collingwood, but the duo’s seasons remain alive despite injury setbacks suffered in Round 19.

Walsh and Silvagni both didn’t play out the first half in their side’s demolition of West Coast with hamstring and knee complaints respectively.

The Blues say Walsh has a low-grade hamstring injury, ruling him out for 2-3 weeks. Silvagni’s fate is a little unclearer, with the 25-year-old suffering a knee sprain.

His return to play timeframe is yet to be confirmed, but Carlton hasn’t put a line through his season.

In more injury news for the Blues, Patrick Cripps (corked hamstring), Adam Cerra (hamstring), Jack Martin (calf tightness) and Jesse Motlop (calf) are all tests for one of Carlton’s biggest games of 2023, as are Matt Owies (calf) and Corey Durdin (calf).

The Blues have won their last five games by at least 50 points on each occasion, reversing a form slump to jump back inside the top eight.

They open Round 20 on Friday night with a crunch clash against the ladder-leading Collingwood.
