Kimmorley credits detailed off-season to Wests Tigers early NRLW success

The Wests Tigers NRLW side enjoyed a 36-8 win over the Eels in their inaugural game at Commbank Stadium on Sunday.

The new look franchise impressed pundits and fans, putting on a great second half performance to run away with the game.

Head coach and former NRL player Brett Kimmorley believes that his girls improved as the game went on.

“I was anxious throughout the game, but we played a nice a brand of football,” Kimmorley told SEN 1170.

“We didn’t make a mistake for the last 21 minutes of the game so that helped us play our style of football.”

The Tigers are one of four new teams to the NRLW competition including the Canberra Raiders, Cronulla Sharks and the North Queensland Cowboys.

Kimmorley said last weekend’s performance was a result of a gruelling pre-season.

“We had seven weeks to prepare where there was lots of coaching put into them and our own systems and styles.”

“Hopefully on the weekend they got the full belief that shows our coaching and systems do work.”

The Tigers play fellow incumbent NRLW side the Sharks on Sunday afternoon at Belmore Sports Ground, who are also coming off a victory, beating the Raiders 28-14.
