Gold Coast star Miller banned for ‘squirrel grip’ action on Zorko

Gold Coast’s Touk Miller has been suspended for his ‘squirrel grip’ action against Brisbane’s Dayne Zorko.

Zorko complained on field that he was grabbed in the groin region by the Gold Coast star in Saturday’s game at Heritage Bank Stadium.

While the medical report from Brisbane was clean, which led to no charge being laid by the MRO, Zorko expressed his displeasure at the original decison on SENQ Breakfast.

"It's interesting, you're allowed to grab the groin region now and squeeze it and do whatever you want to it," Zorko said on Monday.

"So that's an interesting rule that's been cleared by the AFL.

"It's quite interesting that (he) got off. We had really good evidence to support the case.

"I tell you what, my groin region is quite bruised at the moment. It's funny how that all happens."

Following an investigation, Miller has now been suspended for this weekend’s game against Adelaide, for what has been described as conduct unbecoming.

While the Suns and Miller accepted the AFL's decision, Gold Coast football boss Wayne Cambpell said they were disappointed in the decision.

“We accept the AFL’s decision but as a club we are extremely disappointed in the outcome,” Campbell said via a statement.

“Touk is the captain of our football club and has built a reputation as a fair and strong leader who is admired by the entire AFL community.

“He is one of the most highly respected players in the competition and it’s disappointing his integrity and character has been tarnished during this process.”

Miller said it was never his intention to grab Zorko in the groin region.

“It was not my intention to harm Dayne and if that has occurred from my actions I would like to apologise to him,” Miller said.

Miller will next be available for Gold Coast's clash against Sydney at the SCG in Round 22.
