Manly Sea Eagles make bold decision to prepare for season-defining game against the Roosters

2023-08-03T12:00+10:00

The Manly Sea Eagles have had a peculiar season thus far in 2023, currently sitting in 10th position, just one point behind the sixth placed Rabbitohs.

Despite suffering heavy defeats to the likes of Parramatta and Penrith, Anthony Seibold’s side have it all to play for against the Roosters tonight.

Daily Telegraph Journalist Michael Carayannis believes that the Sea Eagles have entered a short camp in preparation for Thursday night’s game.

“They are waking up in the city this morning,” Carayannis said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.

“I find a little bit interesting seeing that the Northern Beaches is not too far from the SCG.

“This was obviously pre-planned and Manly players must want to do a one-day camp ahead of their must-win clash.”

SEN Co-host and former Olympic Swimmer James Magnussen believes that the move will add extra meaning to the game

“It probably takes the players away from just a regular season game and makes it feel like finals,” Magnussen said.

“They might also just be doing it for the experience as well.”

The Sea Eagles’ opposition, the Roosters, also remain in the hunt for finals football, sitting just four points adrift from eighth position.

The match is being played at the Sydney Cricket Ground and will start at 7:50pm, with a win for either side having serious ramifications for the end of regular season ladder.
