Late change carnage for Power as crucial clash swings Cats’ way

2023-08-05T18:33+10:00

Jeremy Finlayson and Miles Bergman have been withdrawn from Saturday night’s clash against Geelong, leaving Port Adelaide’s hopes of avoiding four consecutive losses all the more unlikely.

The duo have fallen ill ahead of the crunch clash and have been replaced by Riley Bonner and Jase Burgoyne.

Ken Hinkley had already lost Aliir Aliir, Charlie Dixon, Kane Farrell and Lachie Jones to various injuries leading into Round 21.

Finlayson has averaged two goals a game in 2023, while Bergman is averaging just shy of four rebound 50s a game off the half-back line.

The Power have held a spot in the top two despite three straight losses but could fall to third on the ladder this weekend with another loss.

A win, on the other hand, would all but end Geelong’s finals hopes.

Jackson Mead is Port's substitute, while Brandan Parfitt is Geelong's.
