“Don’t-arguing, rag-dolling men”: Draft prospect turning heads in the WAFL

2023-08-23T10:35+10:00

Draft prospect Daniel Curtin is primed to make an impact at an AFL club next year.

That is the opinion of his Claremont teammate Jye Bolton who is a massive fan of the talented teenager.

Curtin, who has emerged as a potential top five draft pick, has impressed at WAFL senior level with the Tigers over the last few weeks.

The 195cm defender can also play through the midfield and is doing things that Bolton usually sees in seasoned veterans such is his physical presence.

“My mates have already got me to shut up about him because I pretty much don’t stop talking about how good he is,” Bolton said on SEN WA’s The Run Home.

“First and foremost he’s just a really good kid. He wants to learn heaps for someone who gets hyped up. A lot of kids come through and they just think they know better than everyone else, but he goes out of his way to try and learn more.

“He trains really hard and I’ve never seen a 195cm-plus bloke shrug off seasoned senior players. He’s been don’t-arguing in tackle situations and rag-dolling men. I think he’s pretty well prepared for going in.

“On top of that, just his composure is incredible. He’s probably the best decision maker in our team.

“Any club that are lucky enough to draft him are going to be extremely grateful that they took a chance on him.”

Curtin has picked up 21, 20 and 14 disposals in his three WAFL appearances this season having starred at colts level and for the Western Australian side at the National Championships earlier in the year.

AFL Media draft guru Cal Twomey currently has Curtin rated at number six in his latest Phantom Form Guide.
