Garry Lyon has named his All-Australian second side for 2023.

After SEN Breakfast co-host Tim Watson selected his All-Australian team on Tuesday, Melbourne champion Lyon wanted to field a 22 that could take that side on.

Lyon included players from the official AA squad of 44 as well as others who were unlucky to miss out.

The idea is that Lyon’s team can match up on Watson’s initial team.

Lyon’s Leftovers

B: Callum Wilkie (STK) / Sam Taylor (GWS) / Nic Newman (CAR)

Lyon explained his selection of Oliver: “Tim Taranto probably had a better year than Clayton Oliver but I did that just to get everyone stirred up.”

Disclaimer: This is not Lyon’s All-Australian team, this is the second team, based off Watson's AA side!

So for those asking where the likes of Charlie Curnow, Josh Daicos and Darcy Moore are, they were unavailable due to being selected in Watson’s All-Australian 22.
