The ratings are in for Channel Seven’s new AFL talk show

2023-09-06T10:30+10:00

Channel Seven launched a brand new AFL program Talking Finals on Tuesday night, fronted by Tim Watson, Joel Selwood, Trent Cotchin, James Brayshaw and Mitch Cleary.

The show’s debut leaned heavily on the finals experience of its former AFL players, who provided insight ahead of the 2023 finals series.

It aired at 10:15pm AEST on Seven in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth and 11:45pm AEST in Sydney and Brisbane.

TV Tonight reports that Talking Finals debuted with 74,000 viewers across all metro markets. 36,000 in Melbourne.

For context, Channel Nine’s Footy Classified, another late night AFL TV show, usually hits between 80,000 and 90,000 viewers in Melbourne alone.

Classified rated 119,000 across Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth on Monday night. And averaged 119,000 across the five capital cities for the month of August.

Talking Footy will air earlier from next week, starting at 9pm next Tuesday night.
