Dan McStay has been ruled out of Collingwood’s Grand Final team after scans came back on a knee injury.
The 28-year-old key forward was subbed off at the final break of Friday night’s one-point win over GWS and has now been confirmed to have suffered a high-grade medial strain.
"It's unfortunate to confirm that Dan has sustained a high-grade medial ligament injury during last night’s Preliminary Final with an expected recovery time of six to eight weeks," Collingwood footy boss Graham Wright said in a club statement.
McStay kicked two goals from five possessions in the win over GWS that sees Collingwood advance to its first Grand Final under Craig McRae.
He's played 12 games in his first season at the Magpies since crossing from the Brisbane Lions at the end of last year.
Graham Wright provides an update on Daniel McStay ahead of the Grand Final.
