Hawks' first delistings of 2023 see three players depart

2023-09-26T17:08+10:00

Hawthorn has delisted 22 games of experience in farewelling a trio from the football club.

Josh Morris and Emerson Jeka have both been informed they’ve played their last AFL game in the brown and gold, while category B rookie Fionn O’Hara will depart Hawthorn without a senior game to his name.

Morris had played 15 games since being picked up late in the 2019 draft, while Jeka, a rookie pick from the same year, featured on seven occasions.

Both didn’t play under Sam Mitchell in 2023.

In a club statement, Hawthorn list manager Mark McKenzie offered: “We thank Josh, Emerson and Fionn for their contribution to the club across recent seasons.

“All three have been great teammates and showed a high level of professionalism during their time in the brown and gold.

“We understand these sorts of decisions happen every year, and on behalf of everyone at the club we wish them all the best in their future endeavours.”

It’s Hawthorn’s first delistings of the off-season and second list change following Max Lynch’s retirement.

The Hawkis have forecasted being aggressive in the trade and draft space over the coming months after exceeding expectations with a young list in 2023.
