Swans open up SIX more list spots after delistings

2023-10-09T10:45+11:00

Ryan Clarke headlines six Sydney delistings as the Swans announce major list changes.

Clarke, Will Gould, Hugo Hall-Kahan, Cameron Owen, Lachlan Rankin and Marc Sheather have all been told their time is up at the Swans.

Clarke, 26, played four seasons at the Swans after coming from North Melbourne and most notably featured in the 2022 Grand Final.

Gould debuted in 2023 and played four games this year, his only AFL appearances since being drafted in 2019. Sheather, a Swans academy pick, played three games earlier in 2023 after joining Sydney in 2021.

Hall-Kahan, Owen and Rankine all didn’t make their senior debuts.

Sydney footy boss Charlie Gardiner said: “This time of the year is always tough when difficult list management decisions need to be made.

“Ryan, Will, Marc, Lachie, Hugo and Cam have all made valuable contributions to the Swans. We are very grateful for their hard work and dedication to our football program.”

“On behalf of everyone at the Club, we wish each player all the very best for their futures and we hope they continue to work towards maximising their football potential.”

Sydney is expected to be among the busiest clubs in the 2023 trade period, with Taylor Adams and Brodie Grundy expected to join free agent Joel Hamling in coming to the harbour city.

Dylan Stephens is set to move, while Sydney could also be heavily involved in the National Draft with five picks in the first 52.

Sydney also has additional list spots open given the retirements of Lance Franklin, Tom Hickey and Paddy McCartin.
