Four clubs in the market for out-of-favour Bulldogs winger

2023-10-26T10:05+11:00

The rumours surrounding Josh Addo-Carr will not quiet down with reports that some sections of the Bulldogs hierarchy are happy for the star winger to walk.

Addo-Carr joined the Bulldogs to start the 2022 season and after a solid debut season, the 28-year-old arguably had his worst season to date with injuries being a significant factor. Following an incident at the Koori Knockout, Addo-Carr was suspended for two games and lost his spot in the Kangaroos squad for the Pacific Championship.

Due to his high salary, the Bulldogs are reportedly open to getting the winger off their books and The Daily Telegraph’s Michael Carayannis said as many as three clubs are in the hunt for his services.

“This story just won’t go away,” Carayannis said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.

“Addo-Carr does have two years left on a deal worth more than $2 million.

“He met with the Bulldogs earlier in the week and privately, they have told him they don’t want him to go.

“However, other clubs have heard the discontent and rumblings which has led to Parramatta, Wests Tigers and Newcastle making enquiries to see if he would be available.

“If he is available, would that be immediately and what cash would they have to stump up and get him?

“It has led to an informal discussion around the potential swap for Ryan matterson at Parramatta for Josh Addo-Carr.

“There are some elements from (people) at Canterbury that would be fine to see Josh Addo-Carr leave the club.

“There is still a fair bit to play out.”

The St George Illawarra Dragons have also been linked to Addo-Carr.
